long or unsociable hours by law. Here you can find out the minimum
wage for different age groups and the hours young people can
work:
National Minimum Wage rates from
the 1 October 2008
- Workers aged 16 -
17
£3.53 per hour
- Workers aged 18 -
21
£4.77 per hour
- Workers aged 22 years and
over £5.73 per hour
Work Time Regulations
Young people that have left school but are under 18 are limited
to working:
- 40 hours per week
- 8 hours in one day
- night working prohibited from 10pm - 6am or 11pm - 7am
