ACT - Accreditation information
What is ACT accreditation?
- A planned programme of supported learning leading to a
qualification that is externally assessed and validated by
Canterbury Christ Church University College
- A framework that enables you to deepen your understanding and
critical awareness of theory, policy and practice
- A way of accumulating credits towards other higher education
qualifications
Why should I consider accreditation?
- To gain recognition for learning and development work resulting
from ACT training and your own work
- To link your learning with recognised standards
- To increase your confidence as a careers professional
- To enhance your credibility with colleagues, parents, students
and the wider school community
How is work assessed?
The award is available at two levels - Certificate and Advanced
Certificate. To complete the Certificate you would attend two
courses and write up a portfolio of 4000 words.
Having completed and submitted this portfolio, you could then
decide to continue to work towards the Advanced Certificate. You
would then attend two more courses and write a further 4000
words.
Assessment is on the basis of a portfolio. This is based on your
work in your institution, your learning from the courses and
associated reading and enquiry tasks.
What support will I get?
- You will be expected to attend an induction to discuss
accreditation and to help you to develop your learning plan
- A local ACT tutor will help you to focus your ideas and provide
support
- Your learning plan and ongoing tutorial support from C.C.C.U.C.
will help you to achieve your goal
- You will develop informal networks when you attend courses
- Comprehensive course materials give useful guidance
- Registration and course costs are met
What do I do next?
- Complete and return the initial enquiry form to your local
contact. You will then receive further information.
- Complete a course application form for each course
that you would like to attend and return them to your local contact
as soon as possible
NB: The course entitled "CEG: First Principles" is
mandatory for most people. Advisers/consultants may instead attend
"CEG: Consultancy and support for careers work" - subject to
approval.
