You will probably first hear about the Connexions service in year 8.

Connexions is a support service for young people. It is designed to help everyone aged 13 to 19 to make the best start in life. To help you, you will have access to a Personal Adviser. Your school or college will have at least one Personal Adviser, but others will be based in:

  • Youth Centres
  • Connexions centres
  • Youth Offending Teams
  • other support agencies.

Personal Advisers can help you with a whole range of decisions such as choosing school or college courses, training and careers or helping you work out how to develop your skills through activities such as sport or voluntary work. They can also help with other issues you feel are affecting your life ranging from health and finance to relationships and housing. If your Personal Adviser isn't able to help you themselves, they will listen to you and put you in touch with someone who can.
