Job Hunting

If you are thinking of starting work after you complete your studies, you should begin job hunting  before you leave school or college. Here are some tips:

  • prepare your CV – see your Personal Adviser if you need help
  • start researching potential employers
  • send your CV to employers advertising vacancies
  • send speculative letters to employers, as many jobs are not advertised. Your Connexions centre can suggest employers to contact
  • follow up any vacancies advertised on your school or college noticeboard
  • Connexions circulates vacancy details to schools and colleges or look at Choicejobs for vacancies across London
  • Check out Apprenticeships on the National Apprenticeship site

If you haven’t found work by the time you leave school or college, your first stop should be your local Connexions centre, where you will find:

  • a wide range of job and training vacancies, updated daily
  • staff with whom you can discuss your job ideas and possible vacancies.
